The 3x is my normal size but it was slightly big. I tried the 2x but it was slightly small, so I stuck with the 3x so I knew I'd have plenty of room with a heavy sweater. I love that I can remove the lining on days were I don't need it. I love that it has a zipper AND snaps - which gives me both options. The chest level pockets are convenient but not terribly deep. It's WATERPROOF! I got stuck in a heavy rain and water just beaded up on it!! Now I can't speak to how well it would do after a lengthy time in the rain, but it kept me dry for the times I was in the rain. Yes, the hood is huge. I find most are - so I just sort of cuffed it back on top and it worked fine (and detachable too-yeah!) I ordered the 'Bark' color and it was a nice medium khaki color - which works great with any color I have on underneath. Love this coat and I think it will give me a lot of use, especially with the flexibility of the removable lining. It's really quiet cozy with the lining in!!
